Dual Diagnosis: Open Access  is a peer reviewed, international journal, aims to promote the research in all the related fields of depression and its related syndromes by rapid publication of articles.

Autism spectrum disorder (ASD), refers to a broad range of conditions characterized by challenges with social skills, repetitive behaviors, speech and nonverbal communication.

Symptoms:
• Abnormal Body Posturing or Facial Expressions
• Abnormal Tone of Voice
• Avoidance of Eye Contact or Poor Eye Contact
• Behavioral Disturbances
• Deficits in Language Comprehension
• Delay in Learning to Speak
• Flat or Monotonous Speech
• Inappropriate Social Interaction
• Intense Focus on One Topic
• Lack of Empathy
• Lack of Understanding Social Cues
• Learning Disability or Difficulty
• Not Engaging in Play With Peers

Tests used to diagnose autism:

 Developmental screenings: The Modified Checklist for Autism in Toddlers (M-CHAT) is a common screening tool used by many pediatric offices.

Other screenings and tests:
• DNA testing for genetic diseases
• behavioral evaluation
• visual and audio tests to rule out any issues with vision and hearing that aren’t related to autism
• occupational therapy screening
• developmental questionnaires, such as the Autism Diagnostic Observation Schedule (ADOS)

Treatment:
• behavioral therapy
• play therapy
• occupational therapy
• physical therapy
• speech therapy

Alternative treatments:
• high-dose vitamins
• chelation therapy, which involves flushing metals from the body
• hyperbaric oxygen therapy
• melatonin to address sleep issues
