Allergy is caused by the series reactions of hypersensitivity of immune system. It can be defined as a damaging immune response by the body to a substance generally called as an allergen. A substance that causes an allergic reaction is called an "allergen".

Allergic diseases include hay fever, food allergies, atopic dermatitis, allergic asthma, and anaphylaxis. An allergy is an unnecessary immune response to an innocuous substance.

The most common way to diagnose an IgE-mediated allergy is through a blood test to identify allergen specific IgE or a skin prick test which results in a local inflammatory reaction after administration of the trigger allergen. Impacts can be indirect to human health, such as effects on agriculture, disease appearance as well as to economics or even social life.
