E-learning, often known as online learning or electronic learning, refers to the process of learning through digital resources. In simpler terms, "electronically enabled learning" is the definition of e-learning. This covers a wide range of resources, such as the numerous "how-to" videos on YouTube, university e-learning platforms, entire online study programmes, and virtual master classes. Online learning is the norm for e-learning, making learning materials available whenever and wherever they are needed. Over the past ten years, e-learning has been immensely successful and widespread in the field of education. By eliciting English key words like "e-learning," "technology assisted learning," "mobile learning," "distance learning," "ubiquitous learning," "education," "teacher," and "instructor" into a sizable online database, this study uses the narrative literature review method to find the e-learning pedagogy in the last ten years. Through a review of recent publications and significant research themes, the study investigates the role of information technology literacy in e-learning, e-learning acceptance and effectiveness, e-learning outcomes, interactions in the e-learning context, adaptation to e-learning, motivation and enjoyment, e-learning devices, barriers to e-learning, and the ineffectiveness of e-learning alone. Future study lines could focus on specific e-learning situations, e-learning preparedness, and adaptively through multidisciplinary empirical studies.
Advantages of E-Learning
Flexibility: The main advantage of online learning is its flexibility in terms of time and place. Usually, learning materials are provided in short modules that can be stopped whenever necessary. Whether you check in while commuting, at work, or during downtime, the learning content may be easily incorporated into daily routine. Even if you are unable to attend a live online session, written summaries or videos of the event are often available. Therefore, e-learning is ideal for people who are in school, the workforce, or who simply want to learn more about their favourite subjects or pastimes.
Availability: Online courses also considerably reduce the amount of time needed for administrative work in the business world. While maintaining educational resources in schools is very impossible due to platforms like Moodle and Blackboard. Everyone with Internet connectivity can access learning opportunities concurrently and physically without any limitations if the servers are able to manage it.
Efficiency: Due to the fact that e-learning packages adapt to the demands of each individual learner, the time required to complete a course is significantly reduced. When creating traditional courses, the needs of the entire class are taken into consideration. One person typically doesn't need everything the group has to give, though. Of course, there is no need to travel to the course.
Low Cost: The user is not charged to utilise an e-learning package as often as necessary. Additionally, there are numerous offers for free courses and "premium access." Due to the fact that more students can often enrol in a course at once when using e-learning, it is frequently less expensive than traditional learning methods.
Mobile: E-learning is accessible everywhere. The only thing needed is an internet connection. Transcripts, lessons, and learning resources are all digitally recorded and cannot be lost with a trustworthy backup. These advantages alone show how adaptable e-learning is. However, there are a lot of factors that contribute to the continued relevance of traditional teaching methods in the modern world.
